It's a Jungle Out There!

Undoubtedly, the best part of my job is being there for my clients on the most special of occasions. During the process of planning an event, most of clients become friends. Some even become good friends. Almost all of them, I remain in touch with on some level.

Chris and Tami are on of those couples that I am honored to say, have become very good friends. I was thrilled to work with them on their wedding last October 2008 in Eling's Park, Santa Barbara. Such a sweet and generous couple, and so smitten. You can see photos of the event here. Well, I am super excited to announce that they are expecting their first baby, a GIRL due December 31st! And now, I get the opportunity to work with them on another of the most special of occasions ... planning the baby shower!

Chris and Tami have decided that they would like to do a co-ed baby shower that's not too girly ... just a fun barbecue for their friends and family to celebrate with them. Tami has selected a jungle theme for the decor and vibe and we are having a blast planning!

Here's a peek at the inspiration board, but you'll have to wait until late October to check out photos from the final product! Stay tuned! xoxo

Spring Showers

June 1st, 2009

There must be something in the water because everyone has baby news. Three of my girlfriends announced in the last month that they are pregnant! I love babies and I love baby news. I get so excited for all of the amazing changes that are about to happen in their lives. And I am even more excited for the super fun baby showers we’ll soon be planning!

Personally, I like the idea of co-ed baby showers. Just because the Dad isn’t the one giving birth, doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be just as excited about the bassinet and diaper genie they’ll get as gifts. He’s going to come to appreciate them too! Also a lot more men are becoming the primary care giver in the household. I think it’s a celebration to be shared together.

That said, it’s also fun to be a bit girlie when it comes to baby showers (whether you’re expecting a boy or a girl). One of my oldest and dearest friends from New York was blessed with twin girls recently. Jillian is a girly girl if ever there was one, and I love her for it. These photos ran in last month’s Santa Barbara magazine and made me think of Jillian … and wish that I had been in New York to plan this shower for her.

Crystal pacifier placecards add a great touch of glam and elegance

Love the Louis Vuitton diaper bag cake! (And so would have Jillian)

Adorable signage and fun favors carry the look and feel. xo!
