NEW CALLIGRAPHY PIECES

I love calligraphy. It brings out the crafty side of me, getting to play with ink and color and beautiful paper. So today, I thought I'd share some of the pieces I've been working.

All in the Family

My husband's grandmother recently moved into a retirement home. She lived in her home for more than 60 years and has been collecting treasures along the way. As we were helping her pack up her stuff and decide what to take, what to sell, what to donate and what to disperse we came across many of these items ... things that she had been saving for family members who would love her treasures as much as she has.

One of these pieces is an inkwell that she had been saving for Luca. Wrapped inside was a handwritten note, yellowed and creased by the years, "This was a presentation inkwell to Uncle Alick Hiut, Permanent Secretary to the Admiralty, on his retirement. It is a reproduction of Nelson's inkwell."

As it turns out, Luca had little interest. But as a Calligrapher, I was so excited - and absolutely over the moon when Peggy gave it to me. Now it graces my desk and I work with it everyday. And I know Peggy is thrilled to know it is completely treasured.
Now I just need to find out who Nelson is! xo

The Wedding Salon I

On Monday, I had the honor of being invited to participate in The Wedding Salon, an upscale bridal show with a lot of flash and glamour. It was both exciting and fun, and I was thrilled by how many friends came out to see me and say hello.

I actually displayed at two tables; the first one dedicated to my event planning persona Donna Romani Events and the second one I partnered with eventures and featured some calligraphy pieces from Bella Copia Calligraphy.

For those of you that missed it, here's a peek at my tables.

Drumroll, Please ...!

I am so excited and proud to announce the launch of the newest extension of Donna Romani Events. This has been in the works for some time - since my childhood, in fact, when I used to spend hours doodling and practicing my signature.

Bella Copia Calligraphy is the culmination of one of my creative passions. There is something so simple and pure about a handwritten note, and one crafted in beautiful penmanship with care and attention is timeless. I love the smell of ink, the art of mixing the perfect palette, choosing the right nib and then dipping your pen in the inkwell. And finally, the scratch of the pen as it pulls across the paper, slowly and methodically forming the letters and words that become a celebration of someone's life.

Bella Copia Calligraphy is both a stand alone business, and also a Special Touch service offered by Donna Romani Events. Each one complimenting the other, just as they complement me. -xo
